Music

Music lessons are heavily based around listening, performing and composing. Students have the opportunity to learn a wide range of instruments such as: guitar, ukulele, drums, piano, bass guitar, bucket drums, boomwhackers, djembes, xylophone/glockenspiel and many more. Lessons are designed to enhance students’ capacity to perceive and understand music and are highly practical based, engaging and fun. Through our music program we aim to provide a variety of rich music experiences for students, assisting them to find a passion for a particular musical instrument which they can practise and develop throughout their lives.

As students progress in their study of Music, they have the opportunity to perform in various bands, groups and ensembles. This serves as a real-life experience that bolsters what is covered in weekly music lessons.

Performing Arts

Every second year Bayswater West Primary School holds a whole school production. This gives all students an opportunity to act, sing, dance and perform on stage;. On show night, students are filled with excitement and anticipation, wearing their costumes with pride and ownership of their role. The involvement of the whole school strengthens students', families' and staffs' sense of community as there is joint effort in prop, costume and set design to make show night a night to remember. More importantly, students relish in the opportunity to get up on the big stage, finding and embracing talents and skills that will last a lifetime
