Visual Arts
At Bayswater West Primary School, we provide a Visual Arts program that excites and engages students. By facilitating a safe and supportive environment, students' draw on their own experiences and understandings, using critical and creative thinking to make creative decisions. This fosters a sense of belonging in all students as their experiences are valued and used to guide learning.
The Visual Arts classroom encompasses methods such as drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, modelling, digital and construction. This gives students the opportunity to explore, experiment and create using various methods to achieve different aesthetic outcomes. Students also learn about the design elements and principles which supports students to think critically and creatively about their design choices.
Students also respond to artwork, considering the cultural and historical significance of artists and their work. This equips students with many lenses to view the world, understanding its rich and varying cultures.
